Genesis - Thomas County, the nonprofit food pantry organization for Thomas County, Kan., has recently lifted some restrictions in order to assist Thomas County residents who have never received food from Genesis before.
"If you are struggling to feed your family because of COVID-19 layoffs or other related issues, we can help," said Genesis Board Member Sue Evans.
The announcement to serve more people in need was formally made by Genesis Board Members Ann Miner and Brett Mead Monday, April 6, during a Nonprofit Community Concerns Zoom meeting hosted by the Colby/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce.
"We are here to serve all Thomas County residents who are suffering from foot shortages," explained Evans. "We welcome all families, even those who have never received from Genesis. The food pantry has resources to provide temporary and emergency food assistance, and we'd like to help you during this time of need."
Food assistance is available to Thomas County residents, only, and people must provide identification showing proof of residence. The food pantry is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. To receive assistance, drive around to the side door of the south side of the building of the Thomas County Office Complex, 350 S. Range, Colby.
Please be reminded to respect social distancing guidelines and take note of posted signs giving directions.
Additionally, monetary and food donations are kindly accepted to meet the increase of need in our community curing this time of crisis. To help, please leave a message at (785) 460-7930.
